You will be presented with three options.

If you have only ever used a Bergbuilds subdomain (for example: yourname.bergbuilds.domains), you will want to select the first option: Register a new domain. Reclaim Hosting allows you to select an available domain name from top-level domains like .com, .org, .net, and many others.

Please note: the majority of folks who have created Bergbuilds domains will select option 1. Unless you have previously configured your Bergbuilds domain to have a personal domain similar to 'mywebsite.com' or 'mywebsite.org', then option 1 is the choice for you.

Follow through the prompts, and select your new domain name. It is recommended you check the box offering ID protection.

Next, review your shopping cart, provide your credit card information, and complete your order.

That's it! You have migrated your Bergbuilds domain to Reclaim Hosting. Watch your inbox for confirmation emails and instructions for logging into your personal cpanel dashboard.

If you have any questions, please reach out to our Digital Learning Assistants, or to ITDL staff and we will assist you.

If you have previously purchased a domain name to put atop your Bergbuilds domains, you will select either option 2 or 3. If you wish to transfer your domain from an existing domain provider to Reclaim Hosting, select '2' and follow the instructions. If you wish to continue to use your current domain registrar but move your content to Reclaim's hosting services, select option '3'. You will then be responsible for changing DNS configuration for your current domain registrant.

If you are interested in options 2 or 3, here are a few items to note:

  • If you have whois protection enabled, you must disable it temporarily before you initiate the transfer.
  • This is because your new registrar will send an authorization email to confirm the email address paired with your domain. (This is a “are you really sure you want to transfer?” message.)
  • You must click the confirmation link in the email, or you will have to start the process over!
  • The domain must be older than 60 days.
  • The domain must have no other transfers in the last 60 days.
  • The domain transfer process can take up to 5 days.

Again, if you have any questions, please reach out to our Digital Learning Assistants, or to ITDL staff and we will assist you. Also, Reclaim Hosting has provides excellent customer support. If you should ever want to communicate with Reclaim Hosting staff about the process of migrating or to check the status of your migrating, the 'Support' button is in the lower right-hand corner of the Client Area screen.
